LETTER – ‘Crossing personal boundaries’ needs to be explained

Re: LETTER – How to have one less distraction at Kamloops City Hall
I believe this letter speaks to what many Kamloopsians are asking, especially those taxpayers mandated to pay the mounting legal expenses related to this unexplained, damaging comment made in council chambers by Coun. Neustaeter.
Her lack of transparency and openness to correct any false interpretations and actually inform the public what “crossing personal boundaries” means to her has contributed greatly to the ongoing dysfunction at City Hall.
This personal accusation has been left open to a variety of interpretations and was clearly intended to discredit the mayor. Coun. Neustaeter must be aware of some of the interpretations the mayor has had to endure.
Not only has this unclear and ambiguous comment created further division at City Hall, it has led to the mayor being suspected of being of questionable character and has led to some embarrassing and humiliating comments from certain abusive members of the public who have chosen to believe the worst-case scenario.
Without clarification, the mayor was forced into legal action to clear up these more extreme negative interpretations.
Unlike the mayor, it is Coun. Neustaeter who has demonstrated a clear risk or potential of making future costly ambiguous statements. This makes me question if council and administration targeted the wrong person if they are truly concerned about liability from statements made by elected officials.

Thank you Mr. Walsh for your input. Most welcome. Certainly not a win/win situation is it! As I see it, the gang spends more time finding ways to harass the mayor then they do on city business. A real shame if you ask me.

Excellent follow-up to the most pertinent and thoughtful LTTE to date. Awesome to have people like you around, Dennis, Mrs. Scott and of course the armchair mayor (who continues to ask pertinent questions ).

Mr. Walsh .I commend you on bringing this forward; this basically started when the Mayor brought forward removing the “free lunch” for council and the upper management. Since he lost the vote it seems that council started ganging up on him with Ms. Neustaeter being the spokesperson for council and is the first one to start with her accusations and the Mayor has not been able to refute the accusations and clear his name as this council has basically put a gag order on the Mayor.
Thank You
