Re: EDITORIAL – Let’s go back to naming schools after people instead of places

I really enjoy your segments on CFJC Evening News because your opinions are so often thought provoking common sense.

I especially liked your article about naming schools; specifically the idea of naming the new school in Pineview after a notable Kamloops educator.

Gordon Gore was just such an educator, both in the school system and through his work with the Big Little Science Centre.

I would love to see a school named to honour this very special Kamloops educator.

  1. Gordon Gore is surely a good and deserving choice for a name. I would also like to propose Mary Balf, maybe not for this school, but for the next. She was an untiring local historian, archivist and writer about Kamloops history. We owe our museum and the preservation of local archival history to her mentorship.

I completely agree with the writers of this letter, Gordon Gore School would be a recognition of a very worthy educator.
