LETTER – Who will pay for the COVID-19 rapid tests for City employees?
I would like to know if the taxpayers are funding the rapid test being offered to City employees who don’t want to get their vaccine. I find it ridiculous that Kamloops offers this to its City employees when provincial and federal laws prevent their employees from using this excuse not to be vaccinated.
DANNY PHILIP
Editor’s note: The rapid tests will be supplied to the City by the provincial government, which received them from the federal government under a COVID-19 grant program. The City will absorb the cost of administering the tests, which it describes as “modest.”
The short answer to Mr. Philip’s question is “Yes”. Municipal, provincial or federal, it is all tax money.
General taxpayer note: The rapid testing and its ongoing delivery WILL be paid by the taxpayers.
Maybe not all from the local taxpayers but from the taxpayers nevertheless. It should rightfully come out of the anti-vaxers’ pockets in my opinion.
