POLICE – Guns and drugs seized as part of investigation into arson

A large police presence led to the arrest of one suspect along with several guns and drugs being seized in connection to the execution of a search warrant.

On Friday, Feb. 7, 2025, around 10 a.m., multiple units from Kamloops RCMP attended the 1700 block of Brunner Avenue as part of an ongoing investigation into an arson.  At the location, officers located and seized varying quantities of suspected fentanyl and methamphetamine.  Further to the drugs, officers also seized a hand gun and three rifles.

“Last week’s successful search warrant execution was part of the continuous work that our Crime Reduction Unit and General Investigation Team continue to pursue as part of their investigations as we continue to target those involved in drug trafficking and violent crime in our community,” said Supt. Jeff Pelley.

Kamloops Crime Reduction Unit and General Investigation Team were supported by the South East District Emergency Response Team for the search where one person was arrested and released as part of the ongoing investigation.

“CRU’s dedication to targeting those involved in the drug trade continues take dangerous guns and drugs off our streets,” said Sgt. Jason Pole of the CRU.

Those with information related to criminal activity are asked to contact the RCMP detachment at 250-828-3000.

  1. To catch a few low-level traffickers we spend millions but there is no abating of this social plague. Are the police (and the money spent for it) the most ineffective way to deal with this problem?
