LETTER – A question about fire response at Moira House

Moira House. (Image: John Noakes.)

Dear Armchair Mayor,

I’m supplying a slightly different photo than the one that went along with Brett Mineer’s letter to you.

Although the 8 foot tall chain link fence appears imposing, there is a single entrance/exit facing Kingston Ave..  There is a RV Sani dump at the end of Kingston Ave. adjacent to the single entrance/exit to Moira House.  This must be the entrance/exit to which Mr. Mineer referred where people are free to come and go.

This is a photo that I sent to our Fire Chief some time ago.  I asked him how full sized fire trucks such as E2 or E4 could access a structure fire at Moira House.  Without the line of RVs waiting to access a point to dump their raw sewage, fire trucks should have little problem responding along Kingston Ave. to Moira House.  However, looking at this photo, I still try to imagine how fire trucks, ambulances and RCMP vehicles could reach Moira House.

According to Mr. Mineer, Moira House is at capacity for guests.  He might be able to issue a statement as to how the full house of guests are going to be real time participants in a full scale fire response.

Best regards, Armchair Mayor.

JOHN NOAKES,
Citizen of Westmount
