PETERS – It’s no wonder we hear ‘known to police’ so often in news releases
KAMLOOPS RESIDENTS are getting tired of the phrase, “known to police.”
Hearing it mentioned in every crime-related news story elicits groans and eye rolls from the law-abiding population.
It shouldn’t be a surprise that the people who commit all manner of crimes are criminals.
People react with incredulity that suggests they believe all criminals, no matter the seriousness of the crime, should be locked up and away from the public indefinitely.
In reality, what Canada needs is a detention system that better rehabilitates offenders and prepares them to stay out of trouble when they get out.

No sorry I am not buying your one example of a country with a very small population and debt free because of a well managed oil revenue stream. Known to police is the term used by the police for repeat offenders they have to continually chase because of a Hug-A-Thug justice system that will not put these repeat offenders away for a proper sentence that keeps the public safe and holds criminals accountable for their actions.

A more equitable society is a less criminal society. Norway (with a nationalized oil/gas industry BTW) is much more equitable (sort of more social-ist) than Canada.

Well James it may well be that part of the program involves putting on a backpack and climbing up those steep mountains regularly as all the locals do.EMH
Nothing like good physical exercise
To chase away those ideas of
Committing more crime.
