FIRE – Suspect arrested after apparent arson near Emterra

A suspect has been arrested after an apparent arson yesterday (Sept. 2, 2026) near Emterra Environmental in the 1700-block of Kelly Douglas Road.

Just before 6 p.m., an RCMP officer saw the fire and alerted Kamloops Fire Rescue, which was able to bring the fire under control and remained on the scene monitoring hot spots throughout the night.

“The Kamloops RCMP detachment General Investigation Support Team is assisting with investigating the events that led up to the fire starting,” said Cpl. Dana Napier.  “The alleged suspect was arrested and later released pending the outcome of the investigation.”

Police are asking anyone that may have been in the area at the time the fire broke out, or who may have information related to the fire to please contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 or Crime Stoppers at 1800-222-8477 (TIPS) and cite file 2026-29393.
