The civic election is officially underway — nomination packages for candidates for Kamloops City council, school board and Thompson-Nicola Regional District are now being accepted.
Completed nomination packages must be submitted by Sept. 11, 2026 at 4 pm. The TNRD said today candidates can submit their nomination package to the chief election officer or their designate in person at the TNRD Civic Building office, by mail, or by email to elections@tnrd.ca.
The TNRD said it’s preferred that nomination packages are submitted in person to allow TNRD elections staff to review forms with the applicant, witness their signature, and answer questions, allowing for any corrections to be made in advance of the submission deadline. To make an appointment to drop off nomination forms in person, email or call 250-377-8673.
Nomination packages have been available since late July, and can continue to be picked up:
- In-person at the TNRD Civic Building 4th floor office, located at 465 Victoria Street during regular office hours; or
- Online by downloading the fillable PDF forms available at tnrd.ca/elections2026.
City council nomination documents may be delivered by hand, mail, or other delivery service to 7 Victoria Street West, or mailed to election@kamloops.ca or fax them to 250-828-3651 before the 4 p.m. deadline on Sept. 11.
Nomination packages for candidates running for one of the five City seats on school board can also be delivered to the City. Those running for one of four rural seats can turn them in to the School District 73 office on 9th Avenue.
The general local elections take place Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026.
