POLICE – Impaired parking at police station never a good idea

An out-of-town visitor received a 90-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition and had his vehicle impounded after trying to park in the Kamloops RCMP parking lot.
Just after midnight last Saturday a police officer saw that a man was having difficulty trying to park a Ford F-350 pickup truck behind the police station, Cpl. Jodi Shelkie said today (Aug. 21, 2018).
“When questioned by the officer as to why he drove into a secure parking lot with visible signs saying it was closed to the public, the driver said he had no idea he had pulled into a police station.
“Since the driver had an over-powering odour of liquor coming from his breath and showed other signs of impairment, the officer used a road-side screening device to determine his level of impairment. It showed that the driver was, in fact, impaired.”
She said the driver, who is from northern B.C., said he was just looking for a place to park so he could make a phone call.
Kamloops RCMP remind motorists that it is never safe to drink and drive … on roads, highways or in police parking lots.

I think the fellow was lucky! He was stopped from hurting people. He should be glad.
And well done, RCMP! Personally, I could not even lift myself into F350 – who honestly can truly handle that species of bohemoth? How, Officer, could you even tell he was intoxicated?

If only all drunk drivers were as considerate, if they decide to drink then just go straight to the police station.
