REID ALL ABOUT IT – Nomination papers ready but where does he park?

An occasional glimpse into the mayoral life of Reid Hamer-Jackson.

The incumbent mayor hasn’t filed his nomination papers for the Oct. 17 civic election yet, but he’s hoping to do it before this Friday’s deadline. The holdup is in the restrictions placed on him regarding which staff he can communicate with at City Hall. He’s asked September’s deputy mayor Kelly Hall to find out the procedure for turning in his forms, as the normal process is for a candidate to go over them with a City staffer. Hall says he’s sent a request to staff about how it should be handled….

Meanwhile, Hamer-Jackson wishes Coun. Hall would stop parking in the mayor’s designated parking spot beside City Hall. The spot is for the mayor’s use, not deputy mayors but Hamer-Jackson claims Hall has been using it. No response yet from Hall. Will RHJ have to find a different place to park when he files his nomination papers?…

Assuming Hamer-Jackson does file in time and becomes a candidate, don’t expect to see a big-budget campaign from him. He told me a couple of weeks ago he doesn’t have the money for an expensive campaign. Meanwhile, the big spender so far appears to be Mike O’Reilly, with plenty of advertising since he declared several weeks ago.
