POLICE – Motorcyclist killed in accident near Cardu Hill
A 32-year-old Kamloops man was killed Thursday night (June 22, 2017) when his motorcycle went off Highway 5A near Cardu Hill.
Kamloops rural RCMP and BC Ambulance were called to scene about 6:30 p.m., where they found the man had died from his injuries.
RCMP Traffic Analyst and the Coroner’s Officer are investigating. A witness to the accident stated that the motorcycle went off the road in a curve on the highway.
A truck driver was killed in an accident in the same area a year ago.

That corner sucks. Can really catch you off guard with its decreasing radius. Local riders are aware of it. The Government should put up signage to warn of the decreasing radius. How many more people need to die there. I New Westminster teacher on a bike died there in 2015 and a trucker last year crashed and was killed last year. I am sure there are more. RIP Rider.

There have been at least seven accidents on Cardew hill in the last five years.Highways have spent an obscene amount of money trying to slow truckers,cars and bikes down in the last two years ,to no avail.Another car went off on the south bound lane only two months back.Uncounted numbers of dear with unborn fawns and other wildlife have also been killed by incautious motorists of all types.
Two partial solutions present themselves.60 KM/hr speed humps (ala Schubert drive) and Heritage Hwy status.I believe that CVSE is not able to do it all.There are only so many patrols possible,given the dollars available.
Unless something substantial is accomplished people and wildlife will keep dying
