Police continue investigation into death of Samantha Paul
NEWS/ POLICE — The Kamloops RCMP Serious Crime Unit is continuing to investigate the discovery of Kamloops woman Samantha Paul.
“Several days of an intensive grounds search has come to an end at this point in the investigation,” Cpl. Cheryl Bush said today.
“The major crime unit will be consulting with experts on advanced methods of searching with the possibility of returning to the area at a later date if necessary.”
Investigators scoured an area near White Lake and Campbell Lake where a skull was located on June 1. The skull was later identified, through DNA, as being that of Samantha Paul who was reported missing in September of 2013.
Bush said that with the assistance of the Southeast District Tactical Troop, investigators were able to search and closely examine the area. “The assisting resources have now been released back to their home units and Kamloops RCMP will continue with the investigation.”
Although investigators won’t reveal all the evidence that has been gained, they confirm that some further skeletal remains, believed to be Paul’s, have been recovered. Police are still trying to determine how Paul got to the location and what she was doing there.
Bush said RCMP are seeking the public’s assistance and hoping anyone with information will contact them. Kamloops RCMP can be reached at (250)828-3000 or call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
