FORSETH – Eby’s government still clueless on financial stewardship

ONCE AGAIN, the BC NDP, and Finance Minister Brenda Bailey, have shown their ineptness in being able to care for the finances of our province.

Just a mere six months ago Bailey told BC residents the provincial debt for this year would be an astounding $10.912 billion dollars.

Today’s news shows she was off by nearly a billion dollars as the true state of BC’s finances show a deficit of 11.6 billion.

But it gets worse …

Last Spring Bailey indicated the upcoming budget deficit for 2026/2027 would be 9.9 billion, she is now telling us to expect even more red ink.  The newly revised figure has ballooned to $12.6 billion.

Decades ago, the late Social Credit Premier W.A.C. Bennett said the NDP couldn’t run a peanut stand.  Sadly, nothing has changed, as Premier David Eby’s government is still clueless about financial stewardship.

Oh, and I’m still waiting for that household relief cheque you promised in last years election!

  1. A lot of crusty NDP voters out there. The NDP has overseen the marked decline of health care. Debt is spiraling. NDP poured gasoline on the drug crisis and debased communities across the province. BC Housing does more bad than good as far as community outcomes. Housing is unattainable for many. Eby only has a problem with TFW after it hits the news cycle. Actually, Eby seems to only start caring when something hits the news cycle. BC is trampling private property rights with wild abandon. Forget the debt issue – the NDP are a bunch of bozos is the bigger problem.

  2. It is agreed that Eby is floundering. However it should be remembered that he has to figure out how to get hospitals back into the small towns after the liberals/ conservatives killed WAC ‘s good idea of making the “Jimmy Pattisons”saw the timber where they log it. No mills, no hospitals, and blame the schmoes that inherit this mess. Bye the way , they also ruined WAC’s B.C. ferries.

  3. Here we go again with the nonsense myth that the conservative parties (ie, Social Credit, BC Liberals and whatever else you want to call them) manage the economy better than social democratic party (ie, NDP).

If you look at most economic studies, it’s the opposite.

How about posting some objective evidence to support your partisan biased position?

    Thank you.
