The generation gap foiled two would-be car thieves yesterday (May 4, 2025) when they tried to steal a vehicle with standard transmission.

Just before 6 a.m., police received a report of a robbery that had occurred about an hour earlier on the 500-block of Victoria Street. Around 5 a.m., a person was in their vehicle in a parking lot and was approached by two masked men.

“The suspects robbed the victim of items in their possession, then attempted to steal their vehicle too, but failed when they realized they were unable to drive a standard transmission,” said Cpl. Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP detachment spokesperson.

“As part of their investigation, police have obtained suspect images and are releasing them to the public in hopes that someone can identify them.”

The suspects are described as:

  • Male, skinny, with a red and black bandana covering his face up to the eyes, and a red hoody with the hood up.
  • Indigenous male, more than 6’ tall, skinny, wearing brown work pants, hoody with the hood up, and a red and black bandana, up to his eyes.

Anyone who recognizes the suspects or has information that may be related to this investigation is asked to please contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2025-13306.
