The Red Bridge will remain closed until tomorrow (Sept. 18, 2024) after a fire was discovered at some of its southern support beams early today.

Kamloops and Tkemlups RCMP were called to help fire responders with traffic at the bridge at about 6:45 a.m.

Maintenance crews are assessing its stability. In the meantime, the bridge is open for pedestrian traffic but not vehicular traffic.

  3. I don’t know who might have done this, but it is time to replace that bridge, regardless. we use it in the winter and it doesn’t leave me feeling overly confident that it will last much longer, anyhow.

    • You don’t know who did this? What’s hunched over, busses into town, wears a backpack, rides a bike all around town and lights fires everywhere?
