PETERS – Milobar and Stone will face their toughest election fights this year

KAMLOOPS WAS ONCE SEEN AS A BELLWETHER riding provincially, meaning the candidates who won here, their party would unfailingly form government.

That has not held true for a long time, as Kamloops has stuck like glue to the B.C. Liberals for decades now.

That will all change this fall, as Kamloops will not have any B.C. Liberals for which to vote.

The party has changed its name, its leader and a lot of its candidates, trying its best to distance itself from a brand that many voters had soured on.

That rebranding is just one factor, though, in why MLAs Todd Stone and Peter Milobar will be in for a major fight to retain the two Kamloops ridings come October 19.

A bigger factor — and it’s related — is the rise of the B.C. Conservatives and the popularity of the federal party with the same name.

  1. I think it’s worth mentioning to Jame’s that I, and MANY other Conservatives, won’t  be ‘parking an angry protest vote in this Fall’s provincial election — instead, we’ll be placing an “X” on our ballot for common sense change

After over 30 years of equally shared governance by both NDP and BC Liberals, we’re ready for candidates, and then MLA’s, that will guide our province forward in providing us with a healthcare system we can rely on, a resource sector that provides increased high paying union jobs, quality education, and more

Oh, and one other thing.  For all of the bluster by both Stone and Milobar regarding delay after delay in the much promised cancer centre in Kamloops (4xs since 1991), the question needs to be asked:

“Why didn’t the BC Liberals build it while they were in government?” After all, they even had Kamloops MLA Terry Lake as the provincial health minister!

We are in a season of change and two excellent, soon to be announced, Conservative candidates are going to help lead the way.

    • I am actually really looking forward who will be the PC candidates for the area. And I am looking forward a platform that will acknowledge the environmental challenges we are facing. Nevertheless I will seriously consider voting PC this fall because I had it with the handling of the various social, health and gender issues.

  2. Sadly they are both just Yes-Men beholden to their Masters. Been that way since day one for both of them. While they have been competent in day to day affairs without scandle or affair. In the end what have either done to bring the WOW factor? No Cancer Clinic. No Arts Centre. Nothing special to help us get ahead or stand out. Neither really rock the boat for us.
