POLICE – Distracted Driving Month earns its name
Kamloops drivers still haven’t learned their lesson of distracted driving and wearing seatbelts.
March was Distracted Month in British Columbia. Over two and half days, the Kamloops Municipal Traffic Unit along with members of Southeast District Traffic Unit and CVSE (Commercial Vehicle Safety Enforcement) conducted enforcement check stops to target distracted drivers and seat belt use.
On March 16, 17 and 22, the check stops were at five different locations throughout Kamloops with the following violation tickets issued:
Using electronic devices – 74
Fair to wear a seat belt – 49
No insurance – 4
No driver’s licence – 3
Fail to stop for police – 1
Prohibited driver – 1 driver (who had three charges)
Vehicle inspection notices – 11
(Numerous other violation tickets were issued as well.)
And those are just the people that were caught at their particular locations on those days. At which point is the province going to invest in an actual Highway/road patrol? After ICBC is bankrupt from all the claims?
I guess that won’t happen as long as the rest of us pay more and more for these talented few.
