No Ajax money for civic candidates

NEWS/ CIVIC ELECTION 2014 — KGHM Ajax won’t be contributing any money to the election campaigns of candidates in the November civic election.

kghmThe company said Thursday it encourages people to vote on Nov. 15 but it won’t support any candidate financially, directly or indirectly.

The comment came after Kamloops council candidate Peter Kerek issued a press release saying any candidates who receive campaign donations from KGHM Ajax should reveal them to the public.

In a comment posted to The Armchair Mayor News, the company stated:

“KGHM Ajax wants the community to know we will not offer any candidate direct or indirect financial support in this civic election campaign. We encourage all citizens to become involved in the democratic process, learn about the issues, demand informed responses from those seeking office and of course, get out to vote for the candidates of their choice on Nov. 15.”

As our new master looks down from his lofty thrown, he is both wise and benevolent. His words of support echo across valley and dell of his vast kingdom, bringing joy to young and old:

“Yes my little sweeties, please do get out and vote. I promise not to interfere in your nice little election. No, no that is not my intention all. Not at all. Choose anyone you like! Yes, yes, but think about who you choose, it’s important, no? Now run along and be merry. I won’t stop you.”

This should also apply to developers, and those benefiting from special considerations, including zoning changes.
