LETTER – Trump’s coup in Venezuela openly flaunts the rule of law

The coup in Venezuela openly flaunts the rule of law — it should never be cheered. There now seems no limit to American imperialism.
Trump has already said he wants Canada to be part of the U.S. and he falsely believes (or at least has speciously claimed) that Canada is a major supplier of illegal drugs to the U.S.
We think the U.S. would never take military control of Canada for our oil or water, but can we be sure?
BRONWEN SCOTT
I don’t think very many people would view the illegitimate (former) President Maduro as a better alternative for the average Venezuelan. It says a lot when “progressive” media and politicians cluck their tongues at the events in Venezuela, while Venezuelans are cheering in the streets. Chavez and Maduro in succession have ruined a once-prosperous country. With natural resources in abundance, no one should have to experience poverty, zero human rights, hunger and rampant inflation the way the citizens of that country have. Trump is far from ideal, but way better than what they have had.

As long as Canada remembers that our role is a vassal one we will be fine from direct American incursion. Financially speaking their are already in charge.
