POLICE – Officer injured during arrest of suspect in Clapperton breakin attempt

An RCMP officer was injured as several detachment members scuffled with a suspect who was believed to have attempted a break-in at a Clapperton Road building early today (April 1, 2025).
A man was taken into custody after the incident but was released with a court date and conditions.
At about 1:55 a.m., Kamloops RCMP responded to a building on the 200-block of Clapperton Road. They located a suspect nearby and told him he was under arrest.
“The suspect allegedly ran from police toward Leigh Road, where another officer located him and attempted to take him into custody,” said Cpl. Crystal Evelyn.
“A foot pursuit followed in which the suspect began yelling for help, actively resisted arrest and in the process, inflicted several non-life-threatening injuries on the officer.”
Backup officers quickly arrived and assisted in taking the suspect into custody. He was lodged in cells and assessed by the Integrated Crisis Response Team before being released. Charge recommendations are anticipated as part of the assessment and approval process.
Anyone who witnessed or has information that may be related to this ongoing investigation is asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2025-9242.
Rob a business, assault an officer, and get released with a wink and a nod to appear.
