POLICE – Cameron Cole released on bail, public warned to be vigilant

Cameron Cole.
A man arrested on a warrant last week has been released back into the community, following a bail hearing today (Aug. 23, 2024).
On Aug. 12, 2024, the Kamloops RCMP detachment’s Targeted Enforcement Unit (TEU) arrested 40-year-old Cameron Ronald Cole on an unendorsed warrant related to charges of possession of a loaded restricted firearm and possession of a firearm while prohibited.
“Following Cameron Cole’s recent arrest, the Kamloops RCMP detachment informed the public that he had been taken into and remained in custody,” said TEU Sgt. Kevin McIntyre.
“Now that he has been released, we feel it’s important to update residents, as he remains the subject of a public interest disclosure issued by police in May. Our concerns related to an increased risk of public violence in the community continue.”
He was released by the courts with a series of conditions and a future court date after today’s bail hearing. Police said he will be monitored in partnership by the Kamloops RCMP Detachment, B.C.-Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit’s (CFSEU) Uniform Gang Enforcement Team, and a bail supervisor.
“The public is asked to please remain vigilant and report suspicious occurrences or suspected criminal activities that could be related.” Those with information are asked to please contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000.
Here’s a shorter version of this story: RCMP is worried that this criminal poses a threat to the public. Courts release criminal on bail anyway.
