In four days, 27 people were arrested and large quantities of drugs and weapons were seized during a Kamloops enforcement effort targeting drug traffickers, police say.

On March 20, 2024, members of the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit British Columbia (CFSEU-BC) Uniform Gang Enforcement Team (UGET) arrived in the city to assist the Kamloops RCMP Detachment’s Targeted Enforcement Unit (TEU) and Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) with a four-day project to help reduce and suppress violent offenders in the community.

During the joint effort, police seized more than two kilograms of illegal drugs including suspected meth, cocaine, and fentanyl, as well as two handguns, a replica handgun, knives, bear mace, and batons.

“The Kamloops RCMP Detachment remains steadfast in our strategic priorities by targeting individuals involved in drug trafficking, weapons offences, and violence,” said Supt. Jeff Pelley.

The assistance of UGET was requested following a series of enforcement actions related to the local drug trafficking trade.

Police said 24 files were create specifically related to the targeted enforcement, which included motor vehicle investigations, suspicious vehicles and occurrences, warrant executions, prohibited driving, weapons and drug offences. A stolen vehicle was also recovered.
