Peter Milobar — mayor or MLA? (kamloops.ca photo)
LET’S CUT Peter Milobar some slack, shall we?
He’s been getting a lot of flak over his decision to run for the Kamloops-North Thompson BC Liberal nomination while he continues to sit as mayor.

Mel, if you want to give Milobar a chance to work through the Ajax dirt-pile, he could begin by informing City Council and the citizens of Kamloops what he is trying to achieve through his negotiations with KGHM. I’m not looking for details…simply a broad outline of the issues to be negotiated. As for the term ‘community benefits’, it is not a benefit until the costs of the mine to the City have been covered. Until then, any dollars we are talking about is compensation. Benefits only begin after the costs are met. And why has not a single Kamloops journalist asked about the lack of consultation and disclosure of the benefits proposal that Milobar apparently shared with Mines Minister Bennett but not his fellow Councillors?

The salient points of your op-piece were:
1) Cut him same slack…because he is new to and all exited about the polical game. 16 years of foggyness notwithstanding.
2) People are wrong to assume…unless you are THE Mel.
3) The BC Liberal party is known for its benevolent ability to foster independence of thought and actions amongst its elected members…really?
4) I enjoy reading the Armchair News…and I do not mind to disagree.
