PASSING – MP pays tribute to former councillor Dieter Dudy in Parliament

Dieter Dudy.

Prominent Kamloops resident Dieter Dudy was honoured in Parliament this week for his contributions to the community. Dudy, a former City councillor and owner of Thistle Farm, died in early September.

On Thursday (Oct. 22, 2026)  Kamloops-Thompson-Nicola MP Frank Caputo spoke about Dudy during Statements from Members prior to Question Peeriod.

Caputo’s words:

Mr. Speaker, I pay tribute to Dieter Dudy of Kamloops, who unexpectedly passed away in September.

Dieter was an extraordinary person who will be fondly remembered and deeply missed. His legacy centres around his dedication to family, community and public service. Dieter served as a two-term councillor in Kamloops. He was known for his work at Thistle Farm, an organic vegetable farm.

I will miss chatting with him at our local farmers’ markets. He donated thousands of pounds of fresh produce to the Kamloops Food Bank to help the hungry. Dieter gave time to Tourism Kamloops, serving on its board; to the Rotary; and to Community Futures.

Dieter was predeceased by his wife Debbie. Mourning his loss are his partner Lynn Tendler, son Ryan Dudy, daughter Kaitlin Methot and her daughters, Sophia and Alyse. I offer the family my deepest condolences. May perpetual light shine upon Dieter.
