NEWS/ CITY  — The city’s new multi-million-dollar casino will open next month and it promises to be a party, the company building the new entertainment facility says.

Gateway Casinos & Entertainment announced that Cascades Casino Kamloops will open Wednesday, July 29. “This is sure to be the biggest party of the year,” the company said. “The celebration will feature amazing live entertainment, sumptuous cuisine and many surprises.”

The casino, which will replace the old Lake City Casino in the Hotel 540 on Victoria Street, is being constructed in the former Rona building on Versatile Drive in Aberdeen. It will have five restaurants, entertainment and a “spectacular” 30,000 square foot gaming floor.

The casino floor will have 500 slot machines and gaming tables including blackjack, roulette, and baccarat plus a three-table poker room.

Several of the restaurants and bars will have family friendly options, said the company.

“Our goal is to ensure every visit to one of our restaurants creates a lasting impression with our guests,” said casino general manager Dale Manaj.

“Whether it’s a lively brunch with the entire family; an intimate date night; watching the big game with the guys or just a Tuesday evening, we want them to leave already planning their next visit,” he said.

Gateway CEO Tony Santo said he’s “thrilled” about the impending opening.

“One year ago we announced our vision to offer Kamloops a better entertainment experience. I think we have created a truly unique entertainment and gaming destination for this community,” he said.
