First snow brings multiple accidents

UPDATE — Kamloops RCMP released more details Thursday of a four-vehicle accident on Westsyde Road.

Police said an officer came across the collision at about 7:40 a.m. It had just taken place on Westsyde Road south of Settlement Road.

The accident had occurred as a result of a southbound vehicle losing control on icy roads and sliding into another southbound vehicle. Both of those vehicles then slid into oncoming traffic and involved two other vehicles.

Three of the drivers were transported to Royal Inland Hospital with minor injuries. Westsyde Road northbound traffic was diverted to Bank Road until the accident was cleared.

The driver who initially lost control was issued a ticket under the Motor Vehicle Act for “speed relative to conditions.”

Police also attended several other minor accidents as a result of very slippery roads following the light snowfall.

NEW/ POLICE — Kamloops RCMP are responding to multiple motor vehicle accidents this morning (Thursday) as a result of the road conditions.

Motorists are being asked to slow down considerably this morning.

Officers were at the scene of a four-vehicle accident with injuries on Westsyde Road and Settlement Road. As of 8 a.m., Westsyde Road was closed northbound until further notice.
