A humble apology to our readers

Valleyview secondary students told by school staff Wednesday they could protest, but not on school property.

Valleyview secondary students during walkout. One of the stories we covered Wednesday.

Over the past few days I’ve been making some changes to The Armchair Mayor News in an effort to improve its functionality.

Not surprisingly, there have been some glitches. Stories haven’t always appeared when they’re supposed to, or where they’re supposed to. Those who follow this blog and receive email notifications may have noticed on a couple of occasions they’ve received duplicate copies of stories. Sorry.

But that pales in comparison to Wednesday, which was a big news day. For one thing, students were staging their walkout to protest interruptions in their education due to the dispute between teachers and the government.

We were all over it. We should have been able to file that story, with photos, promptly. And, I happened to be downtown when the parking kiosks went on the fritz. We should have been able to post that story right away, too, plus keep up with other happenings of the day, not to mention several important provincial and national stories we would normally localize.

But then, the Internet went down. My provider was doing something with the tower just up the valley. It drove me nuts all day long, phone call after phone call. I’m currently filing on a borrowed computer at somebody else’s house because my Internet still isn’t working.

I’m hoping today (Thursday) will be better, though. I’m looking for ways to avoid such interruptions in future. You have my apologies, as well as my thanks for your support.

No need to apologize. You’re doing more than the multi-person newsrooms in this town.

We are just happy to receive some news even if it happens to be slightly late through unavoidable circumstances.
    Thanks.
