The search continues for a missing swimmer who ventured outside the designated swim area at Riverside Park on Friday (July 24, 2026).

RCMP say the swimmer went under and never resurfaced.  Kamloops Fire Rescue searched the river while police searched the shoreline.

“On July 25, 2026, Kamloops Search and rescue deployed to assist with an underwater sonar search along with the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team (URT),” said Cpl. Dana Napier.

“As part of the search the Kamloops RCMP detachment deployed a drone to the area to assist the ground and water searches.”

She said coordinated search efforts will continue.  Anyone that may have interacted with the missing swimmer on the shore or saw them enter the water is asked to please contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and cite file 2026-24183.
