Kamloops RCMP are asking the public for any information that might help advance their investigation into an unprovoked attack involving a man in his 70s earlier this month.
On June 5, 2026, at about 1 p.m., Kamloops RCMP received a report of an assault that occurred between 7 and 7:30 a.m. that day at the Lansdowne bus exchange in 400-block of Lansdowne Street.
The victim was seated and waiting for an arriving bus when the suspect allegedly, without provocation, approached him and struck him in the face, causing serious injury. The suspect then fled the scene.
“Investigators are releasing a photo of the suspect captured on surveillance video in an effort to further the investigation,” said Staff Sgt. Janelle Shoihet of the Kamloops RCMP. “As well, we are asking anyone who may have CCTV or dashcam footage in the area, before and after the assault, to call police.”
“We are very fortunate the victim was not more seriously injured in what, by all accounts, appears to have been a senseless act of violence. Police are looking to speak with anyone who may have video, information about the identity of the suspect male, or was a witness to the event.”
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and cite file 2026-17928.
