FORSETH – Ski-hill trash talk aimed at Trudeau was totally inappropriate

Emily Duggan (Image: Facebook)
WOW … a few seconds – eight words — of uncouth and vulgar speech has brought about a firestorm of opposing opinions across social media.
Those 8 words? “Get the f— out of BC. You suck”, were spoken by twice failed school trustee (Nelson 2022 and Castlegar 2024) candidate Emily Duggan, who is also, apparently, subject to a peace bond and ordered to stay away from an elementary school.
I posted a story about this on my own political Facebook page, yesterday (Sunday, Dec. 29), and boy did it start a raft of comments, agreeing with her right to say what she did, but also firmly opposing her comment. Here’s just a few examples:
• He has it coming. The narcissist
• Why? They’re getting old enough to know that their Dad is well, well past his governing expiry date. He is genuinely hated in many corners of this polite land of ours.
• Trudeau is trash and he wrecked our country. You’re part of the problem! People sleeping in their vehicles or not eating cause of him. You’re a prime example of when cousin is just a word! You should leave too.
• The criminal will be exposed and try to run to other countries. Hopefully he takes his kids with him no more POS with the Trudeau last name can ever step in House of Commons again
• It’s not polite or civil. It’s not harassment either, if it’s only once, given his position. It’s not a rock or explosive drone through the windshield, so it could be worse. It wasn’t in the driveway at school, or Christmas dinner. His kids were safe throughout.
Really – it’s okay because it wasn’t a rock, or explosive, thrown through a window … it could have been worse? Of course, it could have been worse, but that doesn’t make what she did right.
Thankfully, there were also comments from those opposed to what Duggan had to say:
• Surely, we are not condoning a politician being harassed when he is on a vacation with family? Completely unacceptable in my view.
• I mourn the death of civility, on all sides of the political and social spectrum
• I can stand in front of a person and dress them down, quite brutally too, but I never have to swear. I never have to raise my voice. I don’t have to insult them. I just have to tell them why they are wrong with a reasoned argument.
I also appreciated the more thoughtful and articulate comments expressed in the following (edited for brevity):
• This “person” is nothing more than an uncouth bully looking for attention. Those on the far right sharing her video are contributing to the problem. We’re not all on duty at our jobs 24/7/365. We are allowed vacations, and, on our vacations, we are off duty. We can be with our families. We don’t have to answer questions or be at the beck and call of some stranger. I sure as Hell won’t be voting Liberal this year, but that doesn’t mean I have to go around being rude and sounding ignorant.
NO ONE, I don’t care what their politics/beliefs, has ‘it coming’, as one individual remarked.
For those who do believe Trudeau ‘had it coming’, would they exclude themselves from having abuse heaped on them, especially if it was in front of their children?
I ask this because of one who remarked, “On the list of things not to do in front of the children, this is pretty far down from the top”.
It appeared, from checking their Facebook profile page, that they have children, which is why I asked:
“You’ve justified as okay using that kind of language in front of his kids. Would that be fine in front of your kids? If not now, in two years? How about 5?”
To give them credit, he did replay by saying, “If I got that in front of them, for good reason, it’s an unfortunate teachable moment. Sometimes being rude IS the message, as unpleasant as that is.”
I wonder though if they would agree being rude would include this comment, partially directed at me:
F— Trudeau and his spawn. It’s good that he can’t go anywhere in Canada without being told where to go. How many families and kids did he fuck over? Right. Now go f— yourself.
Thanks, but no thanks, I don’t think I’ll do that.
Whether in public or hidden behind a computer screen making rude and vicious comments, it seems like some (many) feel they have the right to say anything that crosses their mind.
It reminds me of an acronym I was made aware of several years ago; OTMOTM It means, “On the mind, out the mouth.” Those who suffer from OTMOTM (and I’ve been guilty of it myself on occasion) also seem unable to take a few moments to think first before commenting.
As always, people will disagree with me and argue I’m wrong. It’s fine by me, I don’t care.
In my opinion, what Emily Duggan said was wrong. It was crude and vulgar, and totally inappropriate to say in a public place, especially in front of his children.
No amount of excusing it as free speech, or that he was deserving of what was said, is going to change my mind.
Alan Forseth is a Kamloops resident. For 40 years he has been active, in a number of capacities, in local, provincial and federal politics, including running as a candidate for the BC Reform Party in the 1996 provincial election. He is a member of the BC Conservative Party and was the campaign manager for the party in the Kamloops-North Thompson riding in this year’s provincial election.
With 170,000 words currently in use in the English language, surely people can make their views known without resorting to cheap vulgarities.
When people use nasty terms it’s much easier to dismiss their views than if they use rational arguments. There are many rational arguments to prove that Trudeau is a liar, a manipulator and a stooge of the WEF–no need for the “F” word.

Ooooh, the profound ignorance…..Duggan got her phone ready to capture her own performance and then (when she could have chosen otherwise) she posted it for all the world to see. A stay-at-home mom who ran (unsuccessfully) on a hate platform for school-board office…..thinks she has something to offer. Ooooh, the profound and painful ignorance.

You are literally defending a tyrant…. think on that.
Trudeau has been a part of so many scandals over his time as Prime Minister, try and compare to the number of scandals any PM has done before him; and you’d probably only have one or two to speak of. Like Harper? Appointing Marc Nadon to the Supreme Court? Got caught with a little nepotism? Sure, that’s a slap, but only ONE. Trudeau has reddit threads and a wiki page dedicated to Justin Trudeau’s antics, and when juxtaposed to his policies, Justin Trudeau is the worst Prime Minister this country has ever seen.
I could list them off, but I’ll tell you the one’s that make him a truly evil man:
>The Carbon Tax… everything is 10 times more expensives because of it.
>Inviting an actual Nazi into the House of Commons, only to realize after the mistake of not checking his background, managed to get the Speaker to resign.
>SNC Lavalin
>WE Charity
>China’s interference, which may seem like Trudeau was involved.
>Expensive Vacations on the taxpayer’s dime
>ArriveCAN app, a $250,000 development that somehow costs $54 million
>Aga Khan scandal
>Omar Khadar scandal
>Jody Wilson-Raybould scandal
>Groping a reporter
>Elbowgate
>Blackface… not damning by itself, but it flies in the face his is “woke politics” that we’re all forced to abide by, right? Look at all the Bill that were past to promote “equality”, like C-21, C-75, M103…including various policy failures like breaking immigration policies opening the floodgates to uncheck migration, and giving the BC NDP open license to decriminalize hard drugs that actually made the drug problem worse.
And (not) finally, because I’m making a point here:
The ABUSE of the Emergency Act upon the Freedom Convoy Protests, that the Federal Court deemed was illegal to use. Say what you will about Tamara Lich and the Convoy movement, but the reality is Trudeau simply did not like those who opposed him (or his oppressive COVID mandates) and abused a law that was only suppose to be used in extreme war-time style crises. ….. old men on scooters waving flags and bouncy castle for children are NOT a crisis. And yet he ordered cops to trample all over them with horses…. And Fruelin Freeland froze their bank accounts…. this is NOT a leader of the people, this is what TYRANTS DO…
Stone Cold Liberal supporters can continue to live in their dreamland where Trudeau and his caucus has done nothing wrong to incur the wrath of regular everyday citizens…. but I’m just curious how many citizens of this country have been negatively affected by his obvious mismanagement of this country… affected including “death”.
Trudeau being told to “F-off”…. that’s getting off light. He should be so lucky to get that. REVOLUTIONS WERE STARTED WITH LESS. He’s off skiing, while everyone suffers, displaying his “let them eat cake” attitude?… yeah, F-him…
… and guess what happened to the person who coined that phrase about the cake?……

Actually, the “let them eat cake” thing is a myth.

I’m NOT defending Trudeau, and anyone who knows me will verify that I think he is one of the worst PM’s we have ever had. I stand by my comments as NO ONE should be subjected to that kind of abuse, especially with their children, when they are in public

Trudeau recently said in Brazil that we have to be willing to starve ourselves + our kids to stop Climate Change. Have you seen how much mileage + unnecessary travel he’s used a private jet for on this holiday? He makes more pollution than just about anyone else on the planet but demands we make all of the sacrifices. The Liberals criticize Canadians for wanting to take their kids camping. We spent over 20million dollars fixing Harrington Lake for his personal use. There’s no ski resorts in Ontario? He demands we starve while he lives like a king on our money. He’s lucky it was that lady that told him off + not me.India is spending billions of dollars making petroleum refineries. They’re just starting to energize their economy + won’t be using wind + solar to do it. Same for China. They’re the 2 mlost populated places on the planet. We can’t just stop the Climate from changing in Canada. It’s virtue signalling to Trudeau’s bosses in Davos + the UN. Trudeau doesn’t care if he destroys your life. That’s the plan.

You are missing the point — while Trudeau is one of the worst PM’s we’ve ever had, and a hypocrite as well, to be disgusting and crude in front of his children was wrong on every level.
If you fail to agree on this point, then you obviously agree it would be fine for someone to do that to you and your own family

Thanks for your article, Alan. Our views sometimes differ but I think we can both live with that and hopefully find middle ground where we can both come out feeling like we have accomplished something positive.
The “F-bomb” seems to be the ‘go to’ term nowadays. Trash talk at best but does it reveal a lot of anger just waiting to burst out at the seams? Regardless how we think or feel of Mr. Trudeau, he will be remembered in the history books whereas the young lass who tossed the F-bomb might be forgotten within a few weeks? If we are mature enough, we can get over some of these things and carry on.
Locally, we have our own “trash talk gal” who seems to enjoy telling a 70 year old senior citizen that she was rolling on the floor laughing her ass off. Wow; the picture that was left in my mind. But, thankfully, maturity kicks in and even an old guy can forget about stuff like that.

Crude and vulgar, rude and vicious, it is fashionable and especially for certain members of society the they can get away with such inappropriateness with total impunity. And unfortunately for us Allan they are likely to vote PP.
