LETTER – Another story about an orphaned black bear cub
Greetings Mel. This in response to the orphaned cubs.
I had one a few years ago and tried to get him into rehab. The Wildlife park didn’t want him as he was just a common black bear. I finally found a place that would take him, Northern Lights.
Angelika (Langden) had it all arranged..cage..free flight. All that was needed was someone to capture him. No go with the conservation people.
Looks like nothing has changed. Angelika is very trusted by the conservation officers up there and they will actually let her capture them. I hope that you can put more pressure to bear to save these little cubs.
BARBARA McELGUNN
Editor’s note: The good news is that both the Rivershore and Rayleigh cubs have been rescued and are now at the Northern Lights shelter in Smithers. Thanks to those who spoke up about their plight.
