SNOWBIRDS CRASH – Petition asks that road be renamed after Capt. Jenn Casey
A petition has been launched asking that the road to Kamloops Airport be renamed after Capt. Jennifer Casey, the Snowbirds public affairs officer killed in the crash of a Tutor jet in Brocklehurst on Sunday.
The petition, addressed to City Hall and posted on the change.org website, proposes that Airport Road be renamed Capt. J. Casey Memorial Way. As of Monday afternoon, the petition had garnered well over 2,000 signatures and was growing by the minute.
“On May 17, 2020 Capt. Jennifer Casey tragically passed away after the Snowbird plane she was in crashed after takeoff in Kamloops, B.C.,” states the petition, started by Giancarlo Briglio.
“To honor and remember Capt. Casey we would like to change the name of Airport road to Capt. J. Casey memorial way.”
On Twitter, Briglio said, “The Snowbirds were on an important mission to bring happiness, joy and inspiration to Canadians during these difficult times.”
“Wed., Feb., 03/2021: R.I.P., HEROINE Captain Jenn CASEY, ROYAL CANADIAN AIR FORCE, CANADIAN FORCES, P.R.O.-PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER, SNOWBIRDS: R.I.P., Captain Jenn…AS NO SKIES WERE THE LIMIT, WHEN YOU AND YOUR SNOWBIRDS WERE IN THE AIR!!!”

It’s a bit early to make that kind of determination. If the road were renamed, I think Snowbirds way is more appropriate.
