SNOWBIRD CRASH – Team member killed in air accident has been identified
The person killed in today’s (May 17, 2020) tragic Snowbirds crash over Brocklehurst has been identified as Capt. Jennifer ‘Jenn’ Casey, the public affairs officer for the aerobatic team.
Casey was killed when the Tutor jet in which she was flying suddenly lost altitude and crashed into a Brocklehurst neighbourhood.
The aircraft’s pilot, Capt. Richard McDougall, remains in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. He ejected from the jet as it spiralled towards the ground shortly after takeoff.
Casey joined the Snowbirds in November 2018 after serving as a public affairs officer for the Canadian Armed Forces since 2014. Before that, she worked as a reporter, anchor and producer for a radio station in Halifax, where she grew up and received a BA at Dalhousie University and a BA in Journalism at University of King’s College.
Her Linked In profile says she also earned a Master’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies at Royal Roads University.
She previously worked as a producer for Rogers Media.
