POLICE – 25-year-old man in custody after incident on Royal Avenue

Kamloops RCMP are continuing to investigate after arresting a man who barricaded himself inside a residence on Royal Avenue last night (Aug. 22, 2018).

On Wednesday, police received information that a person was being confined to a house in the 400 block of Royal Avenue.  Police contained the area and evacuated the neighbours as a precaution. Officers were successful in calling out several occupants of the house, including the person who was allegedly being held against their will.  However, one male remained in the residence.

The Southeast District Emergency Response Team was deployed to contain the house.  Shortly after 11 p.m., the man in the residence was taken into custody. Police said today the house is being secured pending further investigation.

The 25-year-old man who was taken into custody by ERT is from Kamloops and was previously known to police.  All investigation information will be forwarded to the B.C. Prosecution Service who determine charges.
