WHAT’S UP DOWNTOWN – It’s springtime in the neighbourhood

OH, SPRING — the time of year when you leave the house dressed for -4˚and arrive home at 15˚. It seems too late to wear salt-stained Sorels, but too soon to switch into shorts (excluding the throngs of runners training for Boogie the Bridge on the 29th!).

What a refreshing time to dress for three seasons in one day. Similarly, it’s the time of year where you overhear “spring cleaning” in the news, throughout the neighbourhood, and finally take notice of the cobwebs in the corner of the office.

Downtown Kamloops is gearing up for a fun season full of events, new adventures and fun for all ages.

On April 28, the 3rdannual Green Living Expo will take place at the Sandman Centre. This year’s expo will host a full day of speakers, free Zumba classes, Iron Chef: Green Edition, a food truck festival and more. Of course, the CAP Team will be at the Sandman Centre all day with giant checkers and giant jenga. There will also be live music all day.

We know that you’re going to want to make the whole weekend a weekend downtown, so make sure to pop down to Boogie the Bridge the day after. Even if you’re not running, come cheer on everyone as they cross the finish line.

There will be lots of fun things going on in the Kid Zone in Riverside Park, including some of our famous games. Don’t forget to wear Boogie Red (we will be!).

In the following weeks, you may notice more sandwich boards, patios, and flower planters popping up Downtown. In the following months, keep out an eye out for Cappies moving an interactive art cart, a public piano, a lending library, or setting up a stage for live music. In the meantime, check out www.downtownkamloops.comto stay in the loop on events, attractions, and more.

See you out and about!
