PETERS – Todd Stone’s path to Liberal leadership might have a few bumps

TODD STONE will reveal the worst-kept secret in BC politics next Tuesday. He’s banking that everyone remembers the last person to cannonball into the swimming pool, not the first one.

It will be interesting to see whether the Liberals’ disappointing performance in the spring election will help or hamper Stone’s chances in the party’s leadership race. The failure to gain a mandate certainly led to Christy Clark’s eventual resignation, and that opened the door for Stone to make a run for the leadership.

  1. None of the names up for leader impress. Stone was just a yes man for Clark, Sullivan was a total failure as mayor of Vancouver, Watts is just another Clark, she just hides it better. Watts loves to spend money, much like Clark. Watts is also just not that popular with voters, which lead her to run for the Conservatives, instead of another term as mayor of Surrey. Either way, I just cannot see the Liberals coming back from the abyss any time soon.
