PETERS – Why do smokers get to litter?

(Image: CFJC Today)

THERE ARE MANY, many things in the world to make a reasonable person angry these days.

The list seems to be getting longer every week, with white supremacists taking top spot to kick off July. But nothing is so infuriating, so viscerally maddening as a cigarette butt tossed aside in an act of wanton carelessness.

Now, smokers have it tough these days.

Fewer and fewer people seem to understand the power of a nicotine addiction and how difficult it is to break.

  1. I am sort of surprised to read “…there are many things for a reasonable person to be angry about…” because I thought I was the only one to comment openly about things of annoyance. Smokers notwithstanding what about the open mufflers of them Harley’s and large diesels? Or the overloaded semis crawling up Peterson Creek hill at 30/35 km/hour and another one trying to pass the others at 35/40 km/hour? Or the neighbors speeding past in their hurried way home? Or the neighbors allowing their dogs to defecate freely whether on others’ lawns or in a nearby parks? Or the neighbors overferilizing, overwatering their inane weed-free lawns? Or the authorities turning a blind eye to all the things that anger reasonable people? Or the authorities allowing a long list of annoying/uncivil behavior to keep on getting longer?
