ELECTION – Party leaders to square off in first and only televised debate
The softwood lumber dispute with the U.S. is sure to add fuel to the fire when the three party leaders square off tonight (April 26, 2017) in a televised debate. Andrew Weaver of the Greens, John Horgan of the NDP and Christy Clark of the Liberals meet face to face from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the debate, which will be broadcast on all major television and radio news networks. It’s billed as the only televised debate of the campaign, although a radio debate last week was live streamed. Questions to the leaders can be emailed to bcdebate2017@gmail.com.
…Federal Green party leader Elizabeth May will pay a visit to Kamloops tonight, attending a B.C. Green Party fundraiser at the DoubleTree Hotel at 6:30. Tickets are $10 at kamloops.ca.emay.
… The BC NDP have launched an ‘Air Christy Clark’ ad showing “the difference between Christy Clark’s B.C. and the reality for everyone else.” The Greens have also started airing their first TV ad, featuring Weaver. He released the party’s full election platform on Monday, with highlights including positions on the economy, lifelong learning, income security, climate action and affordable homes.
