THANK YOU, anonymous one, for reading my last column and then responding by quoting me and referring to my writing as endless “garble.”
For the last four columns I have been lusting to get feed back. Zilch on those. On the first I got one word, “What?”
Interesting because it is the whats that inspired me to start writing regularly about quantum theory information (don’t be afraid, its only a word that means measurement), brain plasticity (how we can improve our thinking and our lives) and the pioneer developers of the Social Media we have swarmed ourselves with into a comatose state.
Yaaaawhoooo…this is fun!
My staff and I were not sure if it was Donald Trump’s name or the mention of the AGVR (average garden variety racist) that prompted feedback to my last column but no matter, we have much to discuss.
If you find Brain Food difficult to digest, take smaller bites and chew well before swallowing. You will be fine.
Please notice that I make efforts not to disparage people or politicians I disagree with in this column. It is just too easy to hang monikers on others. The rabid dogs of my verbal venom I hold on strong leashes. Pray.
Donald Trump may have a mental illness and I know I do so clearly, we need to keep this to the issues and treat each other with respect.
I don’t intend to throw any accusations of racism at anyone, least of all Kamloopsians. As for the garble, of course it is garble, my anonymous friend!
Do recognize that the thoughts you express may be garble to me? It is very important that we do not devalue our dialogue. Often it’s all we have. By communicating with our words conversations start from opposite poles and after a lot of sincere thought and exchange we can move towards peaceful resolutions of problems.
It was Friedrich Nietzsche who outlined the pattern of Thesis opposed to Anti-Thesis, which discussed thoroughly becomes Synthesis. Synthesis can again become Thesis opposed to Anti-Thesis and so on in a cycle. I expect none of us want to go back to public hangings and witch trials. I wouldn’t be safe.
It is unfortunate if analysing racism is just ‘garble’ to you, anonymous reader, but you might pause long enough to see it is by these kinds of exchanges that human civility and progress evolves.
And I’m pleased to hear you find Brain Food difficult to digest. Take smaller bites and chew well before swallowing. You will be fine.
In terms of information theory, I intend to send signal, not noise, and hope you receive signal not noise (garble).
Also, thank you George S. Duncan for your observation that there were posed pictures of handshakes between Merkel and Trump. I missed those and I will do all I can to keep my bias in check.
Speaking of witches let us try to imagine what President Trump’s brain must be swarming with endlessly. It would sound something like this.
“Oh, come on guys, leave me alone. Just let me be your validly elected President so I can enrich the wealthy, end school lunches, meals for the elderly and health care.”
That is clearly cruel. A synonym for cruel is wicked. Same root word as witch. In the fantasy world we expect witches to be sadistic, heartless, callous and cold-blooded. In the real world such monstrous individuals rarely get elected to political office. They are often kept in prisons.
Happily, in the “so-called” civilized world we haven’t had a good witch trial in a long time. Trump recently twittered that the investigations and controversy around his alleged collusion with Putin’s Russia is a “Witch Hunt.”
So be it. If they are witches, let them be hunted.
