LETTER – Please, MP Cathy McLeod, help return aboriginal youths home

Open Letter to Cathy McLeod, Member of Parliament

Dear Cathy,

I’m just sick hearing on the news about the inordinate number (6% of the population, 30% representation) of aboriginal youth being taken into foster care AND being shipped from their homes in Labrador to coastal communities in Newfoundland.

Somebody , somewhere , has to put a stop to the ongoing – centuries old – attack on aboriginal youth. More apprehensions “for their own good” absolutely cannot be tolerated….not post apologies, not post truth and reconciliation. Canadians cannot look the other way any longer….please demand equitable solutions to societal problems that seek to help and not hurt.

Nations looked away when Jews were being abducted for the final solution and you see where that went. Canada 🇨🇦 can no longer say , ‘we didn’t know’.

As MP, and Member of the Standing Committee on Indigenous and Northern Affairs, please petition the House of Commons and the Minister of Aboriginal Affairs without delay:
Put a stop to these abductions immediately, return the children to their homes and communities, apologize, and offer ideas and assistance to fix any problems ‘at home’.
