THE ARMCHAIR MAYOR says the ‘Becoming Animal/Becoming Landscape’ exhibit currently on display at the Kamloops Art Gallery amounts to little more than porn, not art.

But if we are to take the Armchair Mayor’s comment seriously, then we must discuss the definitions of both art and pornography.

    (Yet) The Mona Lisa does this to its audiences as well -a moment of intrigue and one of ‘a very deep sense of curiousity, as to why it is affecting one’s psyche the way it does…’

    (And) yet, the Mona Lisa is not pornographic. -Pornographic is in essence: disturbing, bleak and more than just unwanted: assaulting.
