ROTHENBURGER – Time crunch is coming on Ajax mine review

Ajax-officeTHINGS ARE about to get interesting again on the Ajax front.

melcolhed-sep2016Monday, the City’s Industrial Tax Base Task Force will meet with KGHM to talk some more about a community compensation agreement (“partnership agreement” in Ajax-speak), without Mayor Peter Milobar.

That’s because the mayor took himself off the task force last month and appointed Coun. Ken Christian instead. Christian will sit in with Pat Wallace and Dieter Dudy.

So, what’s the significance of this? Calling the meeting could reflect an expectation that the countdown clock for the environmental review is about to start again.

  1. I’m still waiting for an answer to me question about asbestos having been found south of Kamloops in the early 1930’s. Was the “south of Kamloops” on or near the proposed Ajax mine site? The government (BC Provincial) doesn’t give an exact location.
Perhaps it was just a silly question that was not worth a reply.

  2. -Whew boy, do you ever get the feeling that these people will never go away? Although, one would have to say that, ‘They’re resourceful.’ Ha ! ‘Big Hole, No Problem, Resource Full.’ ( And then they will go away…at least by then: the Jaco Lake bottom will indeed be deeper. ! )
