  1. They were dismayed by the same old, same old. And cut their collective nose off to spite their face.

They reject globalization, not recognizing that it’s going to happen with or without them. They think that ‘bringing jobs back from China’ will somehow fix unemployment issues… but fail to recognize that they can’t live on the wages those Chinese products pay – and wouldn’t buy those products at the prices US wages would require. The Rust Belt wants auto manufacturing back… but fails to realize that much of the problem should be attributed to automation and the rest to wage costs. The average American is frustrated, and rightfully so, because no government on either side of the political spectrum has really listened to the average person… in almost forever.

Hillary wasn’t going to fix that. Donald is incapable of fixing that. Bernie might have, except the down-ballot opposition would have ham-strung him more than it did Obama. The fix will have to come in four years, if the populace recognizes that the problem is that they get the government they deserve… gets their crap together and manages to float a slate of intelligent capable people to the top for the next election cycle (both sides of the aisle). 330 million people, and that’s the choice they were given? The problem started right there. Southpark, and the Giant Douche vs. the Turd Sandwich episode brought to life.

So off came the nose. Now they’ll have to put it on ice for four years and hope it can be surgically reattached in 2020. The trick now is to not bleed out. And desperately try not to sneeze…

  2. -She got the popular vote in total, so she gets the biggest pile of the cookies, yet he also got a brand new construction hammer, by which he can either destroy the room; the nation and maybe even the world, or:

Build America up into it’s formative capitalist powerhouse it once was and leave all the namby-pamby stuff behind that keeps getting harped about (concerning political correct ways of thinking and doing, etc.), and just simply get on with building THE ACTUAL NATION BACK UP leaving those whom want to study frilly pink things behind…in the dust…as they used to say in the old westerns.

“To the winners go the spoils and vision of what really constitutes a nation and progressive nation building.”

  3. As I watched the TV coverage last night I literally laughed out loud at the bizarre cast of pundits on CBC. Watching Mansbridge and Boag’s funereal emotions reinforced my belief that our media is hopelessly out of touch with reality. As Canada spirals into oblivion under the reins of the likes Justin Trudeau, Kathlene Wynn and Rachel Notley while their policies erode everything that made us stable and prosperous, all being cheered as progressive by a media which is killing itself with irrelevant “progressive idealism”, I can only hope that Canada has its own “Trump” moment in the near future.

The policies being pursued by our elected governments are not elevating anyone to our level, they are merely dragging us down to third world status. I had high hopes for the Harper Conservatives, but was disappointed by the Trojan horses in their ranks at all levels.

The Globalists have got to go. The respectful nationalists need to stand up and the criminal international financiers need to be jailed.

    • Peter of Nov 9th —- You nailed it dead on.What were they thinking Mel? They were thinking as Americans who are fed up.The ones who do not accept globalism and unemployment. The ones who actually believe,United we stand,Divided we fall..The ones who do not accept the calculated invasion of their country by foreign interests, ethics and cultures. It is happening in this country.Whats happening in the lower mainland of Vancouver is a prime example. The whole real estate thing should have been nipped in the bud.Unfortunately we have Gregor Robertson,Christie Clark and now the wonder child from the east to run our affairs.1000s of empty houses in Vancouver and 1000s living on the streets and a drug problem that makes the Bronx look good. The local gang shootings make the Chicago and New York mob look like choir boys. The RCMP,well thats a whole other problem. While all this is going on we,re making our arm sore patting ourselves on the back, and telling ourselves,” Yeh,but we,re the nicest people in the world”.Give your head a shake folks.

America needs to get this out of their system. For a while we’ve seen a growing dysfunction in govt on all levels. Now the republicans are in the driver seat. Let’s see how far they go before the train wreck happens.

  6. …but you know it is good, at least theoretically speaking, to give the entrenched and often out of touch establishment a good seismic shake.
In retrospect, Bernie Sanders would have won it easily.

  8. Nailed it Mel.
I have kept repeating that to myself for a couple hours now.
Stunning, absolutely stunning, and a massive loss of respect from me regarding the American primary and electoral system. To go from the most enviable democratic system in the world to utter and complete failure in one fell swoop.
Tonight we saw the Canadian Govt Immigration website crash and financial markets around the world implode. There is much more to go wrong, and we get to sit up here and wonder whats next.
Me thinks we need to staff up our border services.
