An open letter to MLAs Stone and Lake
LETTER — An open letter to Kamloops’ MLAs Todd Stone and Terry Lake:
On April 24, I submitted an open query to our MLAs Stone and Lake. Four weeks have passed without a response.
I asked for an explanation of the apparent discrepancy between the huge increase in the value of resources extracted by mining corporations and a corresponding decline in public tax revenue received. Even though the value of resources extracted and sold between 2001 and now has increased massively, provincial tax revenue has steadily declined during that period. The people of B.C. deserve an explanation.
I also asked if the resource-based corporations have made tax-deductible political contributions to political parties during that time. The answer to that one is easy: Yes. From 2005 until 2013, resource extraction companies have contributed around $3 million to the B.C. Liberal party.
So, I ask Mr. Stone and Mr. Lake again: Can you offer an explanation for what appears to be a systematic looting of the Commons?
RAY BLESSIN

Yes I understand Mr. Lake will be hosted at lunch at the Chamber of Commerce paid for by private for profit health care clinic here in Kamloops. This is the our Minister of Health ladies and gentlemen breaking bread with those that want to break you with bills when you are most vulnerable, when a loved one is ill or when you are ill. Mr. Lake shame on you.
