Kamloops volunteer receives award
NEWS — A Kamloops volunteer has been recognized for his contributions to emergency and disaster respond in B.C.
Bill Foster was among six Public Safety Lifeline Volunteer award winners today as Attorney General Suzanne Anton recognized their achievements during a ceremony in Victoria.
The volunteers conduct air and ground searches, help the victims of serious car accidents, set up networks of volunteer teams and coordinate services for victims of natural disasters.
Foster received recognition for his work in radio communications. Emergency radio communications volunteers respond when all other systems of communications fail, using ham radio.
Other areas of contribution include PEP Air, emergency social services, road rescue, search and rescue and lifetime achievement.
A well deserved award given to my big brother – we are all so very proud of him and the work he does to help others.
