TNRD issues two water-quality notices
NEWS — Turbidity in the South Thompson has resulted in a couple of boil-water notices from the Thompson-Nicola Regional District.
A boil-water advisory has been issued for the Pritchard community water system due to the turbidity. Those with compromised immune systems should use boiled or bottled water for drinking, food preparation or dental hygiene as a precaution, said the TNRD.
Young children, pregnant women, elderly and people suffering from a serious illness are considered immune compromise. Water should be brought to a rapid boil for at least one minute.
A boil water notice has been issued for Del Oro until further notice, with the TNRD saying boiling or disinfecting water is imperative until further notice. “You may also choose to use an approved alternative water source. Water intended for drinking, washing fruits or vegetables, making beverages or ice, or brushing teeth must be boiled for one minute.”
The TNRD toll-free contact number is 1-877-377-8673.
