POLICE – Thirty-five people arrested and 32 weapons seized in three days

Police arrested 35 people and seized 32 weapons during a three-day operation earlier this month, the Kamloops RCMP detachment announced today (Sept. 21, 2026).

From Sept. 3 to 5, 2026, the Kamloops Proactive Enforcement Team conducted a coordinated three-day deployment focused on disrupting alleged organized crime, gang activity, drug trafficking, and prolific offenders operating within the community. Throughout the initiative, officers conducted proactive patrols, compliance checks, and vehicle stops in areas identified through ongoing investigations and police intelligence, the RCMP stated.

Officers generated 24 investigative files and made 35 arrests while conducting targeted enforcement operations throughout Kamloops and Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc. KPET seized 32 weapons, removed approximately 159 grams of illicit drugs from circulation, recovered a vehicle reported as stolen, and seized about $1,755 in offence-related cash.

“This deployment highlights our ongoing commitment to community safety through proactive and targeted policing,” said RCMP Supt. Jeff Pelley.

“The team remains focused on disrupting alleged organized crime, drug trafficking, and prolific offenders while continuing enforcement efforts throughout Kamloops and Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc.”

From funding applied for and received through British Columbia’s Special Investigations and Targeted Enforcement Program (SITE), the Kamloops detachment will be able to train 20 officers that are comprised of its Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) and general duty police from both Kamloops RCMP and Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP who have participated in specialized training, designed to target the most violent and high risk offenders.
