POLICE – ‘Productive week’ for RCMP crime reduction unit in Kamloops

Four people were arrested and a stolen vehicle recovered by the Kamloops RCMP detachment Crime Reduction Unit during the week of Aug. 4-7.

On Aug. 4, CRU officers arrested Kirklen Petkau-Desjardin who was wanted on several outstanding warrants.  Petkau-Desjardin was held in custody and has since been sentenced for several offences on two court files.

On Aug. 7, 2026, an investigation into a report of a stolen vehicle was conducted by CRU that led to the arrest of three people and the recovery of a stolen truck. The alleged driver, Gregory O’Neill, was arrested and charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000.  He remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing.

As part of the investigation the CRU also arrested Kale Skjeie who was wanted on warrants from Salmon Arm and remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing, along with Chasidy Gallant who was also arrested on an outstanding warrant.

“This was an exceptionally productive week for our Crime Reduction Unit,” said Supt. Jeff Pelley.

“Their efforts resulted in the arrest of multiple wanted individuals, and the recovery of stolen property.  These outcomes reflect our ongoing commitment to proactively targeting offenders and improving public safety throughout Kamloops.”
