ELECTION ’26 – Announcement of Dever slate postponed due to weather

Today’s (May 13, 2026) rain may be welcome for those keeping an eye on the drought situation but it has put a damper on a civic-election announcement that had been set for this afternoon.

Former councillor Nelly Dever had scheduled an unveiling today of a slate of candidates with her as the mayoral hopeful but has postponed it due to weather — it had been planned outdoors at the airport memorial park.

The announcement will be made on Thursday instead.

Dever has been tight-lipped on details of the slate, giving nothing away about its makeup or proposed policies. Those will be revealed at the announcement, she has said.
