TRUMP LOGIC – ‘I will not allow this bridge to open until we’re treated fairly’

The U.S. president has some opinions about the new Gordie Howe International Bridge between Windsor and Detroit scheduled to open this year. And about what China will do to the Stanley Cup.

Well done. Trump is such a boor. I certainly agree with these viewpoints.

The bridge is overbuilt for the times. Maybe a reaction ferry like at Mclure would be sufficient for the Trump era trade volume.

Just a little fact checking:
– The bridge between Windsor and Detroit. In October 2011, the Michigan Senate rejected a bill that would have allowed the state to accept $550 million from the Canadian government to fund the country’s share” of the bridge
Therefore the Canadian federal government funded bridge construction in its entirety, including land acquisition in Michigan and the construction of Interstate 75 on-ramps. The Canadian contribution will be repaid from bridge tolls collected on the Canadian side, and no tolls will be charged on the U.S. side. This is why Canada owns both sides, as we HAD to buy it. And yes, there was US consent; US federal, Michigan state permitting and US coast guard approval. He is lying.
– Ontario does not buy American alcohol … because of trump and his tariffs … no other reason at all. Ontario is not ‘prohibited’ from doing so … it chose not to. Turning it around like he is … is just a lie.
– China’s deal with Canada actually isnt much, some canola and lobster for some e-cars, and very few cars at that. There is no ‘eaten alive’. thats just a lie.
– ‘The first thing China will do is terminate ice hockey and eliminate the Stanley Cup’ … I’ll just put that there … what … is he drunk?
– Tariffs for US Dairy. No, not really. We dont want to buy US dairy, we have lots thanks. You can not force us to buy, what we do not want … thats not how trade works. Maybe tell US producers to create … oh I dunno … less product, instead of trying to force us to buy a product we dont need?
– ‘I wont allow the bridge to open’ … its not your bridge, talk to Michigan.
– ‘We will start negotiations immediately’ … you mean the negotiations you shut down because of your last tantrum? Is this your way to announce the CUSMA negotiations restarting after the last time you rolled over in the crib and tweeted in the middle of the night? Mom really should take your phone away at night.
– If you want half the bridge, you can buy it at market cost today, plus a profit as Canada played the role of developer, so in pure capitalistic form, Canada should get paid … right? Its going to be pricey.
